Because the first impression lasts forever, I love the idea of enhancing my entryway regularly. The entrance of my house set the tone for what you can expect ahead. From dramatic elements to something extremely functional, I like bringing my entryway to life through different tastes.
But being a craft junky, I create DIY projects for my entryways instead of spending across supermarkets and the web.
Here are a few ideas you might align with:
1. Hang a Mirror (or Mirrors):
Hang a mirror on your entryway to reflect and dispel negative energy. Feng Sui principles suggest placing a mirror near the entrance can prevent negative energy from entering your home. However, make sure the mirror doesn’t face your entry door.
2. Wall Hooks:
Attach stylish metal or wooden hooks on your entryway to hang coats, umbrellas, bags, etc. You can repurpose antique doorknobs and other hangable attachments as well.
3. Entryway Bench:
An entryway bench with shoe storage underneath is not only stylish but practical as well. On those wet and snowy winter days when your boots can ruin your wooden floor, try this entryway DIY.
4. Turn it into a Gallery:
Your entryway is a beautiful area to welcome and introduce guests to your style. The best and least worked way to decorate your entryway is by turning it into a picture gallery.
5. Custom Welcome Mat:
Let everyone have a sneak peek of your creativity as soon as they put their foot in. Use a choir mat and create a welcoming design using stencil, acrylic paint, etc. Choose plain, natural color mats since they are easy to paint upon.
6. Scented Diffuser:
DIY a scented diffuser to create a welcoming aroma for everyone who enters your home. Take an attractive jar and pour in some hot water, 1⁄4 cup of alcohol, and some drops of aromatic oil. Your can also use Rubbing alcohol instead of water since it helps oil to move up the reeds.
7. Entryway Table:
Having a DIY entryway table isn’t just aesthetic but extremely practical as well. DIY it for keeping your keys, wallets, and other belongings as soon as you enter your home. Or, decorate it with a lamp, indoor plants, and other aesthetic objects.
8. Chalkboard or Whiteboard:
Paint a small section of your entryway wall with chalkboard paint, or install one. I love this DIY entryway project the most for penning down notes or reminders. I also add a creative, personalized touch through drawings and thoughtful messages.
9. Hand-Painted Stair Risers:
Does your entryway include stairs? If yes then paint the risers with unique designs, patterns, or even quotes. This may not sound functional in any sense; however, it will uplift the atmosphere through color and creativity as soon as you walk in.
10. Built-In Bookshelf:
A DIY entryway bookshelf is an excellent addition for those with small houses or limited space. Install a series of floating shelves in your entryway wall. Make sure the shelves are strong enough to hold loads of books. You can also use an old ladder and turn it into a bookshelf.
