I have always been a fan of recycling old into new, especially for creating fancy home decor items. When it comes to recycling, my favorite is to create something fun from old bottles. One of my favorite DIY projects is creating candle holders from wine bottles. Not only is it a fun way of recycling, but it also adds a touch of elegance to any space. So, let’s get started:
DIY Candle Holder from Wine Bottle
I have put a lot of creativity and thought into creating exceptional candle holders from wine bottles, and here are five different ideas:
DIY 1: Taper Candle Insert
- Clean the wine bottle inside out with a soft tissue.
- Now, insert a taper candle into the neck of the bottle.
The slender shape of the wine bottle will support the candle perfectly. This DIY idea is ideal for those who want an elegant and minimalist candle holder.
DIY 2: Decorated Bottle
- Paint, wrap, or decorate the bottle as you like. You can use ribbon, threads, or fancy tape to give it a personalized look. However, avoid using any loose threads or leaving ribbons around that can catch fire.
- Consider adding a bow on the bottle’s neck to enhance the appearance.
- Once you have added the decorative elements, insert a candle into the neck of the wine bottle, and here you have a perfect decorative element.
DIY 3: Sand or Stone-Filled Wine Bottle
- Take a clear wine bottle with no hint of colors or stickers.
- Now, in a bowl, mix some liquid color into sand, let it gain the tint, and allow it to dry. You can try this with 2 or more colors.
- Now, carefully fill the dry, colored sand into the wine bottle. Add little by little, creating fine or rough layers.
- Once it is full 2 inches below the neck, add colorful pebbles or stones as the final layer. Then, place a candle in the neck of the bottle. The natural materials inside give the holder a rustic, earthy vibe.
DIY 4: Decorative Jute Rope Candle Holder
- Take a clean wine bottle, a roll of thin jute rope, and a strong glue.
- Now, start at the bottom of the bottle by applying a fine layer of glue. Hold one end of the rope and press it lightly to secure it.
- Now apply glue to the half length of the bottle and wrap the jute rope circularly all over, keeping it tight and close.
- Once done, decorate a layer of crystals on the rim of the rope. Finally, insert a candle in the bottle, and you are good to go.
DIY 5: Wine Bottle Lantern
I learned a long way that you don’t always need an actual candle to create magic.
- Instead, choose a clear wine bottle, take battery powered tea light candle, and carefully place it inside the bottle.
- You can add a thin fairy light as well to enhance the overall look.
- For a frosted look, use frosted glass spray paint on the bottle before inserting the candle.
